iPhone 14 and it looks a lot like iPhone 13
CAD renders of the iPhone 14 suggest that it will look almost identical to the iPhone 13. It is also rumored to feature some of the same hardware.
CAD renders of the iPhone 14 have leaked, seemingly confirming that it will feature a design that’s almost identical to that of the iPhone 13. Renders of the iPhone 14 Pro had leaked earlier this week, giving everybody a look at how Apple’s next flagship smartphones might look. The renders seemed to reaffirm earlier rumors that the device will ship with a twin punch-hole design in place of the reviled notch.
The iPhone 14 lineup is expected to be unveiled in September, but leaks, rumors and speculations over the past several weeks have revealed quite a bit about the upcoming devices. According to rumors, there might not be an iPhone 14 mini this year, and instead, the four devices in the lineup will reportedly include the iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Max, the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. A new rumor even suggests that the base iPhone 14 model might not even get a chip upgrade this year, and might still ship with with the same A15 Bionic SoC as the iPhone 13-series.
The latest leaked renders come courtesy of MySmartPrice, which claims that they’re based on information from an “industry insider.” The renders seem to suggest that the next iPhone will retain the notch, which could mean that the new dual punch-hole design will be limited to just the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The renders also show what seems to be a dual-camera setup at the back, which means the device will be similar to the iPhone 13 in more ways than one. As mentioned already, rumors also suggest that the iPhone 14 might retain the A15 Bionic chip instead of getting the all-new A16 Bionic, so it will be interesting to see how Apple will differentiate the iPhone 14 from its predecessor.
IPhone 14 Leaked Renders
Speaking of the similarities and differences between the iPhone 13 and its successor, the blog notes that the camera housing on the iPhone 14 seems to be surrounded by a thicker frame of glass than what is seen on the current iPhone. The images also show the volume rocker and the Ring/Silent switch on the left edge of the phone, while the power button can be seen on the right. The SIM card slot is located in the same place as in the iPhone 13.
A notable change is the lack of the iconic Apple logo on the back panel, although, the device itself should still ship with the logo as usual. One of the design elements not seen on any of the renders is the Lightning port, which the report claims would still be present at the bottom of the iPhone 14. If that’s true, it means the much-anticipated switch to USB-C isn’t happening this year. There are also rumors about a port-less iPhone, but that’s probably still a long way off.
