Epic drone footage shows how Tesla builds the Model Y SUV at its new factory in Germany
- Tesla started production at its factory outside of Berlin in March.
- A new drone video offers a glimpse behind the curtain.
- The video shows how an army of robots and human workers assembles a Model Y SUV.
Tesla’s new car factory in Germany officially opened for business last month, and the automaker didn’t skip a beat before giving the public a glimpse at how the sausage is made.
A drone video Tesla posted to YouTube last week depicts a choreographed dance of robots, stamping machines, and human workers assembling Model Y SUVs inside of the newly operational Gigafactory Berlin. The drone swoops and dives around the plant, showing viewers everything from a casting machine that turns molten aluminum into Model Y bodies to the SUV’s final inspection.
Getting a peek behind the curtain is particularly interesting given Tesla’s longtime struggles with quality control.
Seeing how actual sausage is made is not for the faint of heart and unadvisable for anyone who intends to continue eating them. But witnessing a Model Y come together? That’s pretty neat.
