Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk reacted to a post by former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, saying that the hush money trial against former President Donald Trump is “lawfare.”
What Happened: Musk, reacting to a post by Ramaswamy, called the Trump hush money trial a “corruption” of law.
In a post on Monday, Musk criticized the legal proceedings against Trump, calling it a “corruption of the law.”
“This case is obviously a corruption of the law. Lawfare.”
Alvin Bragg‘s case against Trump rests on the ludicrous legal premise that a candidate must use *campaign* funds to make personal hush money payments. Trump’s trial has been a significant event, with his niece, Mary Trump, stating that his mandatory courtroom presence would give the jury a front-row seat to his behavior.
Trump has argued that the trial is a “political prosecution” and has been vocal about it before the jury selection process. The trial is expected to have a significant impact on the 2024 campaign and could potentially lead to prison time if Trump is convicted.
Musk has also been vocal about the growing divide between the Democrats and Republicans. He predicted that Democrats would oppose Trump’s proposed legislation requiring proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration.
