This is a bit of a turn up for the books. Usually we’re talking about racing tech that’s been used to improve the world’s fastest supercars, but this time Lamborghini has gone about things the other way around…

See that roof-mounted air scoop and the rear fin atop the new GT3 EVO2 racer? That’s straight from the brilliant Huracán STO road car. Lambo says it replaces the side air intakes and channels air directly into the naturally-aspirated V10. Lovely.

So, the GT3 EVO2 then. This is actually the third generation of GT3-spec Huracáns, with the updated car getting the aforementioned intake system, new aero and fresh safety tech to comply with the FIA’s 2022 technical regulations.

The aero tweaks include new splitters, a new diffuser and a whole new underbody that help to produce more downforce than the previous Huracán GT3 EVO. There’s also new aluminium supports that allow for greater precision when adjusting that giant rear wing.

Lamborghini’s Squadra Corse division has been hard at work on a new braking system too, and there’s a redesigned roll cage plus super strong carbon-Kevlar honeycomb side panels that perform better in the event of an impact to either door.

Apparently deliveries will begin in the second half of 2022, but if you’re already in possession of a GT3 EVO (lucky you), there’ll be a kit to upgrade it to EVO2 spec. Previous racing Huracáns have won more than 40 international titles across six seasons. Reckon the EVO2 can improve on that?
