Joe Rogan Says Elon Musk’s Twitter Purchase

Joe Rogan believes Elon Musk may have “saved humanity in some way” through his purchase of Twitter, now known as X.

During a nearly four-hour conversation with comedian Andrew Shulz on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, talk turned to billionaires and eventually Musk. Schulz argued the billionaire was once “beloved” by the left for his electric car work through Tesla, as well as the right for being a “successful businessman.”

“The second he takes a position politically, he is chastised, shamed, ridiculed,” Schulz said.

Musk has become more political in recent years, criticizing DEI, “wokeness,” and the American left.

Rogan and Schulz expressed admiration for Musk taking critics head on and they both praised his purchase of Twitter.

“The idea that he is going to uphold this soapbox for free speech despite having some awful things said, the greater outcome will be, hopefully, a civil society where ideas can permeate freely,” Schulz said.

“He may very well have saved humanity in some way because by providing this one platform where people can actually speak their minds — up to a point. There are still some rules,” Rogan responded. “But up to a point, you can get away with a lot of shit. I see so much racist shit on Twitter now that I never saw before. Openly racist.”

He argued despite this “racist shit,” the more open policies are more beneficial as “better speech” is the answer to “bad speech.”

“You just have to know that people do think certain ways,” Rogan said. “You know, even if you don’t like it, you have to know that people think certain ways and the answer to bad speech is not silencing speech, it’s better speech that’s more compelling.”
